Yvette Buckner serves as Managing Director at Tusk Strategies. Her diverse portfolio of experience spans nearly 20 years of advocacy, government relations, policy work and politics in senior level positions in New York City and State.
Leveraging her experience in community organizing, communications and strategic planning, Yvette has successfully raised awareness and advanced legislative initiatives on issues of disparity such as education, health, transportation and housing. She has also led teams in securing multi-million dollar government capital and operational grants.
Prior to joining Tusk, she served as Assistant Vice President at the MirRam Group where she oversaw a portfolio ranging from non-profit organizations to Fortune 100 companies and labor unions. Yvette was also the strategic advisor on the winning campaign for Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez in 2017.
Earlier in her career, Yvette was a special advisor and senior press officer to New York City Comptroller Bill Thompson, the first African American to hold the position and secured national and international media on the country’s fifth largest pension fund.
Yvette has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and a Masters of Public Administration from Columbia University. She is a proud resident of Brooklyn, where she lives with her husband and daughter. Yvette is based out of the New York office.
